What will I learn?

Tai Chi practice centers on posture, connected movement, balance, and coordination. A form gives movements an order so you can learn not only individual positions, but also how one action becomes the next.

For a beginner, that means becoming familiar with stepping, shifting weight, following the direction of a movement, and remembering short sections of a sequence. With more experience, the same material offers opportunities to refine timing and attention to detail. Ask Robert which form and class level are appropriate for your experience.

How do I get started?

Contact the school, tell us you are interested in Tai Chi, and ask about arranging your first visit. Say whether you have any previous experience and which days or times generally work for you.

Before attending, confirm the current location, class time, length, fee, and any registration requirements. You can also ask whether observing a class is available. These details are confirmed directly so you can make plans around the current program rather than an older online listing.

Are these Tai Chi classes suitable for beginners?

Red Dragon welcomes people with no previous Tai Chi or martial arts experience. Starting does not require exceptional flexibility or familiarity with movement names. The important first step is to ask which class provides an appropriate introduction and to explain your comfort level.

Beginners often have practical questions before they have technical ones: what to wear, where to enter, how long the class lasts, and what happens if they cannot remember a movement. Read the beginner guide and bring your own questions when you contact the school.

Who will I learn from?

Sifu Robert A. Gott began martial arts training in 1971. His Tai Chi study includes internationally respected masters, and his competition history includes four gold and two silver medals in China. Red Dragon was established in 2001 and now concentrates on Tai Chi instruction.

Learn more about his teachers, martial arts background, and competition accomplishments in Robert’s biography. His broader background is part of his experience; it does not mean Red Dragon currently offers those other disciplines as classes.

What should I consider when choosing a class?

Look for a schedule you can maintain and a clear understanding of the level being taught. Ask about the form, how a beginner joins, and what is expected between classes. It is also useful to discuss any movement limitations before making a visit.

Learning takes repetition, so choosing a workable routine matters more than trying to do everything immediately. The class schedule page explains how to get current times and fees directly from the school.
